Everyone meet Linda!
Linda’s rescue journey began over 27 years ago with a simple act of kindness: volunteering at a local shelter on Saturdays. What started as a few hours of helping quickly turned into a lifelong passion. As she became more involved, Linda went on to serve as Dog Program Manager for nine years, gaining firsthand experience with every aspect of rescue — including the realities of municipal shelter life.
Along the way, Linda helped build life-changing programs from the ground up. She created Training Wheels, a community outreach program designed to give dogs the structure and guidance they need to thrive, and launched Passage to Freedom, a program dedicated to rescuing dogs from overcrowded shelters in the southern United States. She also played a key role in finding and building a sanctuary upstate, creating a safe haven for animals who needed a second chance.
In 2007, after a shift in management philosophy no longer aligned with her heart for rescue, Linda — alongside a group of dedicated volunteers — took a leap of faith and founded Almost Home Animal Rescue & Adoption. Since then, she has led extensive rescue missions and built a rescue rooted in compassion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to saving lives.
Almost Home exists because of Linda’s vision, resilience, and belief that every animal deserves a chance at a safe, loving future.

Everyone meet Rebecca!
She is our incredible Kennel Manager here at Almost Home.
Here’s what Rebecca has to say about working at the rescue:
“My name is Rebecca, and for the past 14 years I’ve been at Almost Home-spending the last 4 years proudly serving as the Kennel Manager. This isn’t just a job to me-it’s my calling. Almost Home is a place of peace, joy, and unwavering love for every animal in our care. My greatest joy comes from rescuing those who have been unwanted or forgotten and watching them finally receive the love, compassion, and second chances they truly deserve. Watching a scared, broken soul transform into a happy, trusting companion is the greatest gift I could ever ask for.”

Everyone meet Katrina!
Katrina has been part of Almost Home for about seven years, and in that time, she’s made an incredible impact on both the animals and the rescue itself.
Here’s what Katrina has to say about her work:
“My name is Katrina, and I’ve been part of Almost Home for about seven years. Every day I feel so fortunate to go to work and spend time with some of the most incredible animals in the world. During my time with the rescue, l’ve taken part in several rescue missions, anti-cruelty cases, outreach programs, fostering, assisting in our veterinary clinic, and helping manage the rescue itself. One of the projects closest to my heart is founding our ‘Critter Room, a safe space where we rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome small exoti animals in need. I am truly grateful to have a career that is not only fulfilling but also fuels my passion for making the world a better place-one animal at a time.”

“I started volunteering at Almost Home in March of 2022. linstantly fell in love with being there and taking part in this amazing rescue. It is both heartbreaking and rewarding. I am a kennel attendant, and the best part of my job is seeing the dogs so happy to go out for a walk or play in the yard, and coming back to a clean kennel and comfy bed. The absolute best part is seeing them go with their forever family to a loving home. Everyone at the rescue is so dedicated and sincere. I have learned a lot, and 1 am so grateful and blessed to be a part of the team.”

She is one of our dedicated team members here at Almost Home.
Here’s what Jessica has to say about working at the rescue:
“What I love most about my job at Almost Home is knowing that
it’s okay for every dog not to like everyone-just like us as humans, they don’t have to. I love being a voice for animals, especially because they cannot speak for themselves.”
